The fashion merchandising program at my school is part of the business department. The school does not offer a fashion design program. Many merchandisers and designers often work together in the industry, but my students cannot gain that experience as students without fashion design major students. Although the students may not participate in the design process in the future, it is important that they understand the process to gain a holistic perspective—from creating to selling.
