This paper presents an analysis of the systems which produce hydrogen from renewable energy sources (solar and wind), and which use hydrogen as a fuel for surface transportation. A steady state model has been developed which analyzes process performances, the costs of each of the stages in hydrogen production, storage and distribution, and estimates material and energy requirements for building and operating the Solar Hydrogen Energy System. Analysis of the solar hydrogen production, storage end distribution has shown that the price of delivered hydrogen depends mostly on the cost of available solar technologies photovoltaic cells and wind turbines) and their efficiencies.
