Fossil fuels contribute to global warming through the release of CO2, CH4 and other direct or indirects climate-forcing gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (Nox) and volatile hydrocarbons. It is therefore a key concern to analyze the trace gases emitted through the use of fossil fuels and to develop strategies to mitigate the anthropogenic greenhouse effect.
