Currently, attempts at surgical correction of presbyopia (with or without simultaneous cataract surgery) are receiving considerable attention. Different approaches to presbyopia correction can be chosen. It is generally believed that hardening of the lens substance contributes to the development of presbyopia. In order to restore accommodation, we have chosen an approach in which the hardened lens substance is removed through a small opening in the lens capsule and the lens contents is replaced with a soft refilling material.
