Measuring disability is an important topic in rehabilitation research in patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP). Due to the major impact of CLBP on functioning in both daily living and work, measuring disability in patients with CLBP is best described in terms of limitations in activities and restrictions in participation in daily living and work. A frequently used measurement instrument in rehabilitation medicine to measure self-reported limitations in activities of daily living (ADL) in patients with CLBP, is the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ).
