This thesis examines the Cappadocian contribution to the present-day thinking about God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The introduction starts with the observation that the doctrine of the Trinity still functions in the life of the Christian community, especially in the case of baptism. Contrary to popular objections and considerations of some theologians the four main streams of Christianity- Orthodoxy, the Roman Catholic Church, Protestantism and Pentecostalism - hold on to the doctrine of the Trinity because they believe the doctrine properly reflects the idea that the one God makes himself known in the person of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. ....
