In this dissertation we study several aspects of the data association problems arising in multisensor-multitarget tracking. ^ The first part of this dissertation deals with the design of a track association and fusion approach for a networked surveillance system. A hierarchical processing of the ambiguous track data produced by the communication system is proposed. Two methods to obtain the association cost are compared and three association algorithms are also compared in order to characterize their performance both in terms of the quality of the association as well as the computational load.
