A Sample of Postcard Fronts

This is a small sample of some of the fronts of the postcards produced by school pupils during workshops conducted as part of the AHRC-funded 'Future Memory in Place' project. The images on the front of the postcards represent one part of a 360 degree study of the skylines as seen from the schools’ grounds. More information on this activity is available in Appendix B of the AHRC Project Report (link provided above). Scans of the fronts and backs of every postcard produced in these workshops are available in the ‘Postcards’ collection (link provided above to the item containing all of the postcard fronts). The funded 'Future Memory in Place' project united visual art and ancient history through contemporary landscape painting and research on migration in the ancient world, archaeology, manuscripts, objects, journeys, uncharted maps and music. It was enacted through school workshops and community gatherings around Swansea, and gave over 2,500 school pupils the opportunity to learn about how people relate to the place where they live or have lived, and how memories and the experience of migration can be expressed in art.Arts and Humanities Research Counci
