The control methods used for free/shock vibration suppression are normally different from those used for forced vibration cancellation, because shock vibration is regarded as a type of transient vibration that is different in nature from steady-state forced vibration. However, both steady-state and shock excitations may occur in flexible structures, so there is a need to control both types of vibrations.
