Various studies have consistently shown that eviction is a more likely reality for the poor, the marginalised, and the vulnerable. Eviction marks the limit of security of tenure. It is governed primarily by domestic law or practice and shaped by local factors such as the prevailing legal culture, community expectations, policy priorities, and political realities. However, the international perspective is increasingly inescapable.
