Omega-3 (n-3) long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFA), particularly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6n-3), are important for normal health as well as growth and brain development in humans.
