Authorities in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China are concerned about the sustainability and productivity of food production systems, and have initiated a number of projects that aim to boost grain production. However, there is limited information available on current cropping systems, yields and likely yield constraints. To address this knowledge gap, structured interviews were undertaken in 45 farming households across Tibet’s central cropping zone. Information was obtained on the crops grown, common farming practices and yields typically attained.
