International audienceEarthen materials are deeply present in the building traditions. Their study typifies a key analysis, not only for the history of architecture and technology but also for the investigation of social and economic dynamics. There is no experimental reference system for the technological and morphological variability in wattle and daub. It is possible to identify four main categories of experimental variables related to: raw materials, frame technology, daub technology and firing/decay processes. These variables are verifiable and can be documented by a settled protocol.
