Between 1948 and 1954 the American author Ernest Hemingway visited Venice and the surrounding area for four times. In this period he made friendship with members of four local noble families: the Franchetti, di Robilant, Kechler and Ivancich. He was invited to their palazzi and country estates. He went fishing and hunting with them. He was fascinated by their lifestyle and portrayed members of the families in his novel "Across the River and into the Trees". The center figure was Adriana Ivancich. She became his "Venetian Muse" and center figure of the novel as Contessa Renata. Not Reviewe
