This paper is an attempt to measure and evaluate the efficiency of the health care system of Serbia in comparison with countries in the European region using the data envelopment analysis (DEA), one of the most important methods to model and measure the efficiency of health care systems. The research included the sample of 42 countries representing decision-making units (DMU), divided into two groups of countries with similar levels of development. To assess the performance of those DMUs we used three outputs representing mortality rates and three inputs representing health care expenditure and health care human resources.
