Inter-American Development Bank Advanced Profile: Rural Development Policy

The Bank has developed and implemented several initiatives to reduce poverty and to improve rural competitiveness during the past decade. This document updates and establishes operational principles to guide action in this area so that the stated goals of the Mandate can be effectively achieved. The document is based on Bank experience during the decade, and on the new consolidated IDB Rural Development Strategy (2004), which includes a new vision for rural development and identifies priority areas for Bank action.
