The purpose of this Strategic Framework is to guide, and help increase the effectiveness of, Bank action in the education sector. The Framework responds to requests by the Board of Executive Directors for updated sector strategies following the approval of the Institutional Strategy in 1999. The Strategic Framework is intended to be supportive of the Bank's core priorities of promoting competitiveness and growth and reducing poverty and inequality. The Framework builds on the Bank¿s overarching corporate strategies as well as the education sub-sector strategies written in the course of the past decade.
