Today the need to locate people, objects or things have a growing demand for what Location Services are becoming a very popular service for mobile phone users, for informational purposes, security, entertainment, etc. In the context of positioning methods and general methods used in UMTS networks, this paper attempts to summarize and analyze the different positioning techniques commonly used in Location Services. The methods used in UMTS are: Cell-ID or cell coverage, OTDoA-IPDL or Observed Time Difference of Arrival, and Assisted GPS. From the standpoint of analytical and mathematical, we have proposed an algorithm in Matlab and Simulink to simulate the different methods and the technique used, graphically, thorough and understandable, esp...
