Hubungan antara Intoleransi Glukosa dan Diabetes Melitus dengan Riwayat Tuberkulosis Paru Dewasa di Indonesia (Analisis Lanjut Riskesdas 2013)

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are still health burden diseases in the developing and poor countries. Since the 20th century, clinicians have observed an association between DM and TB, but the strength of the relationship between DM and TB in low-income countries are still unclear.The aim of this research is to identify the relationship between DM and impaired glucose tolerance with a history pulmonary tuberculosis grown in Indonesia. Design of the study was a cross sectional using secondary data from Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas), National Institute of Health Research and Development 2013. The results showed that respondents were diagnosed with diabetes has nothing to do with the history of TB. However, if diagnosed glucose intolerance likely to undergo pulmonary tuberculosis by 42% or 1.4 times compares to the odds that respondents with normal blood glucose (OR 1,36; 95% CI 1,06-1,61 p<0,05). As an effort to prevent the increasing prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis, need to be screened for TB in people with diabetes mellitus or glucose intolerance, particularly those living in areas of high TB prevalence
