Hubungan Antara Ukuran-ukuran Tubuh Terhadap Bobot Badan Kambing Jawarandu Jantan Umur Muda Di Kabupaten Kendal Jawa Tengah (the Correlation Between Body Measurements and Body Weight of Young Male Jawarandu Goats of Kendal Distric, Central Java)

SThe animal body measurements could be used as an estimators of body weight without weighing the animal. This study was aimed to determine the body measurements that highly correlated to body weight for Jawarandu goats. The samples of Jawarandu goats was determined by purposive sampling method and was taken from several sub-districts. Parameters observed in this study were the age of the goat, hip width (HW), chest width (CW), hip height (HH), shoulder height (SH), depth of chest (DC), chest circumference (CC), body length (BL), and body weight (BW). Statistical analysis showed that the correlation of body measurements to body weight at each different age group i.e. group 1 (0-4 months): hip height and body length (0.942; 0.926), group 2 (>4-8 months): chest circumference and hip height (0.933; 0,900), group 3 (>8-12 months): high shoulders and chest circumference (0.902; 0.900). Multiple regression equation that fit in group 1: BW (kg) = -20.17 + 0.36 HH (cm) + 0.29 BL (cm) with a value of r = 0.96, group 2: BW (kg) = -34.58 + 0.41 HH (cm) + 0.50 CC (cm) value of r = 97, and group 3: BW (kg) = -45.84 + 0.54 SH (cm) + 0.57 CC (cm) and the value r = 0.94. The conclusion of this study was the hip height, body length, chest circumference, and shoulder high could be used as estimators Jawarandu body weight in male goats aged 0-12 months
