Analisis Klorin Pada Beras Yang Beredar Di Pasar Kota Manado

Rice is a staple food that is easily processed, easy to prepare, delicious and contains a protein as source energy. Chlorine is not permitted to be used on rice because it can harm the respiratory system. In the form gas chlorine can demage mucous membrane and the form of liquid can damage the skin. The purpose of this study is to identify and determine the levels of chlorine on rice in the markets of Manado. The samples used in this research were nine rice samples taken from three markets in Manado, namely Bersehati 45 market, Tuminting market and Karombasan market. Chlorine was examined using a color reaction method and iodometric titration. The results of this research shows that all nine samples of rice does not contain chlorine, either by color reaction method and iodometric titration method. Rice in the markets of Manado does not contain chlorine and safe for consumption
