Pengaruh Pemberian Kitosan terhadap Kadar Mineral dan Kolesterol Serum Kelinci

Chitosan is a polysaccharide polymer is a dietary supplement that has been widely used in medicine for lowering cholesterol and reducing weight. This study aims to determine the effect of chitosan intake on cholesterol, triglycerides, blood glucose levels as well as the minerals calcium and phosphate levels in serum. A total of 12 male rabbits of New Zealand white 5 months old with body weight between 1.5-1.6 kg were used in this study. The animals were randomly divided into four treatment groups: group I (negative control), group II-IV, namely chitosan treatment group were given respectively 1%, 2%, and 4%. Levels of total serum cholesterol and triglycerides in analysis kalorometri enzymatic method, blood glucose analysis by glucose oxidase biosensor method, calcium by atomic absorption spectrophotometri method (AAS), and phosphate spectrophotometri method. The results showed that administration of chitosan 2% and 4% can reduce total cholesterol, triglycerides, calcium, and phosphate and serum significantly different (P<0.05) compared with negative control, and no effect on blood glucose levels
