EFEK ANTIHIPERGLIKEMIK EKSTRAK DAUN SIRIH MERAH (Piper crocatum) PADA TIKUS PUTIH (Rattus norvegicus)

Objective: The aim of this experiment is to know whether there is an effect of Piper crocatum de Wit leaves extract to glucose blood level of white rat (Rattus norvegicus) induced by alloxan. Methods: This experiment was an laboratoric experiment with pretest and posttest with control group design. Samples were 30 male Wistar rats,200 gram, 2 months, divided into 5 group and each group consist of 6 rats. At the day 1st, each group injected by alloxan subcutan with doze 150 mg/kg b.w. for 3 days. At the day 5th until 18th , each group was given treatment. Group 1 was given by standard diet and metformin 12,6 mg. Group 2 was given by standard diet and aquadest . Group 3 was given by Piper crocatum leaves extract 322 mg/200 g b.w. Group 4 was given by Piper crocatum leaves extract 644 mg/200 g b.w. Group 5 was given by Piper crocatum leaves extract 1288 mg/200 g b.w. At the day 4th and 13th, the animal’s blood were collected from rat orbitalis plexus vein and serum was separated for the estimations of glucose serum level. The level of glucose serum was measured. Statistical analysis was performed by one way Anova and post hoc test. Results: Statistical analysis results showed that there was a significant decreasing of glucose serum level in positive control group, Piper crocatumleaves extract dose I, dose II, and dose III and there was a significant difference between sirih merah leaves extract groups and aquadest group.
