ANALISIS PERTUMBUHAN UBI JALAR (Ipomoea batatas L.) DAN TANAMAN NANAS (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr) DALAM SISTEM TUMPANGSARI

Intercropping is one manner for increasing of land productivity. Intercropping is planting more two kind of plant in a same place at the same time. Interaction between plants in intercropping system give motivation for plant growth analysis. The one of the plant combination in intercropping is sweet potato and pineapple. The aimed of this research is to learn about the growth level between sweet potato and pineapple in intercropping, to learn about the suitable pineapple variety which can use in intercropping with sweet potato, and to learn the suitable proportion of sweet potato in intercropping with pineapple for getting sweet potato growth highest. This research conducted from November 2007 until March 2008 in Jumantono, Karanganyar and Ecology and Management of Plant Production Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Sebelas Maret University. The research was arranged with Randomized Completely Block Design (RAKL) factorial with (2 x 4) + 1 additional treatment. The first factor was pineapple variety, consist of cayenne and queen variety. The second factor was proportion of intercropping, consist of 0% proportion of sweet potato, 25%, 50% and 75% proportion of sweet potato. Additional treatment was sweet potato monoculture (100% proportion of sweet potato). Each treatment repeatedly 3 times. The data analyzed with normality test and continued by analysis of varian based on F test and contrast orthogonal. For comparable test done with DMRT on 5% level. Variable of this research was dry weight of plant, leaf area, relative growth rate, net asimilation rate, leaf area index, leaf area ratio, specific leaf weight, specific leaf area, leaf area duration and biomassa duration. xvi The result of this research showed that the growth of sweet potato in intercropping with cayenne variety and 25% proportion of sweet potato was better than others treatment in some of variable, like : dry weight of plant, leaf area, leaf area index, leaf area duration and biomassa duration. Intercropping between cayenne or queen variety and sweet potato can increasing of growth sweet potato. The growth of pineapple monoculture was better than intercopping with sweet potato. The vegetative growth of cayenne variety was better than queen variety
