KESESUAIAN LAHAN UNTUK TANAMAN UBI CILEMBU DI KECAMATAN JATISRONO KABUPATEN WONOGIRI

ABSTRACT The aims of the research are: in order to know the land’s actual suitability class, the resistance factor and the problem solving, also to know the land’s potential class and the limiting factor; to know the right cultivate season, farm operation capability grade of Cilembu sweet potatos in Jatisrono District, Wonogiri Regency. The frame idea of this research were done soil survey and land evaluation, then the land characteristic and land quality had been matched with growth requirement of Cilembu, so that land’s actual suitability class had been known. Land’s potential suitability class was known with consideration right technology input. According to the aims and ideas, the research had been conducted by explorative comparative method, i.e. direct approximation on research location and compared with another location that have been cultivating Cilembu sweet potatos, also had been supported by laboratory analysis. Statistic that used in this research were Stepwise Regression, Cluster Observations, Correlation, Covariances, and Two-Sample T-Test. The conclusion of this research showed that all of Soil Mapping Unit (SMU) in Jatisrono District have the land’s actual suitability class is S3 (marginally suitable) with limiting factor i.e. dry month duration for 5 months consecutively and C-organic less than 1 %. The problem solving for this limiting factor were used planting pattern organization according to suitable cultivate season and to increased the utilization of fertilizer from manure or organic fertilizer from harvests rest. The land’s potential class on research location was S2 (moderately suitable) with resistance factor were temperature (SMU I – VIII), heavy hazard (SMU I – VIII), C-organic (SMU I – VIII), slope and erosion danger (SMU I – VIII), also texture and effective soil depth (SMU IV – V). The right cultivate season for Cilembu began from January to May. Analysis of farm operation shown that Cilembu is capable to be cultivated and developed on Jatisrono District
