GAYA BAHASA DALAM NOVEL TERJEMAHAN SANG PENGEJAR LAYANG-LAYANG (THE KITE RUNNER) KARYA KHALED HOSSEINI

Abstract: The purpose of this research is : (1) to describes the dominant language of style is use by Khaled Hosseini in the translation novel The Kite Runner, and (2) perception readers againt the used language of style in novel. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used were in-depth interviews and document analysis. Data analysis technique used is the interactive analytical model that includes four components, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The conclusions of this study are as follows. Those figurative languages are: figurative languages based on the sentence structure used are: (a) antithesis and (b) repetition which includes anaphora, anadiplosis, symploche, epizeuksis, epistrofa, tautotes, epanelepsis, and messodiplosis. The figurative languages based on delivering meaning are rhetoric language and figurative language. The rhetoric languages are: (a) hyperbola, (b) asyndeton, and polycideton while for the figurative languages are: (a) personification (b) simile (c) metaphor, (d) metonymies, and (e) sarcasm. Reader perception related to the using of repetition figurative language, hyperbola, personification, simile, metaphor are the most used dominant in the translated novel Sang Pengejar Layang-layang (The Kite Runner), each figurative language has different meaning and function in supporting the success of the works. The benefit of those figurative languages are vary, such as ability in creating esthetic effect in a sentence, giving clear effect on the important part of story, giving the characteristic and following certain trend on a writing, giving strong point in the content of story, concrete things which is abstract, clearing purpose, creating the real image by exaggerating story, and also helping readers‟ imaginations.
