Conciencia: fenomenologia y conducta

The most widespread contemporary strategy to dispel the mystery of consciousness attempts to provide an account of consciousness in terms of causal properties. However, such an account neglects the phenomenological aspect of the possession of consciousness: the fact that we are aware of some beings above all as conscious beings. Acknowledging this fact requires a way of understanding the relationship between conscious states and behavior, quite alien to the causal strategy--namely, consciousness makes itself manifest in behavior.
