This research is done to know about reasoning capability and\ud solving problem in mathematics of the first semester student of mathematics department of muhammadiyah university of malang.\ud This research uses descriptive qualitative research. It is used to analyze data from the result of reasoning capability and solving problem test.\ud From that data known that 62,67% students are good in\ud understanding the problem, 62,33% students are good in designing pattern from each items well, 60,25% students are good in solving problem based on the pattern and stages which they designed before, and 54% students are good in recorrect the pattern that they design.\ud Can be concluded that students are good in understanding the\ud reasoning and sol...
