PERAN WAHANA LINGKUNGAN HIDUP INDONESIA (WALHI) SEBAGAI \ud GLOBAL CIVIL SOCIETY DALAM KONSERVASI PULAU TERLUAR \ud INDONESIA

Environmental organizations were born because of the natural resources injustice which \ud resulted in frequent damage occurs. Environmental damage is caused by globalizaztion \ud factors, deforestation; illegal mining is an example of problems which is led by globalization. \ud Indonesia's environmental movement was born began with the activity of students who called \ud themselves nature lovers group, in the reign of new era, environment issue never becomes the \ud main government priority, particularly, the problem of deforestation which later led to \ud reactions from students who care about the environment and its development over this time \ud neighborhood-based organizations appear like WALHI. Civil society is a form of relationship \ud between a country with a number of social groups, such as families, businesses, community \ud associations and social movements in the country, but are independent of the Country. civil \ud society refers to organizations between the State institutions on the one parties and the lives \ud of individuals and communities on the other. Global strength of civil society comes from its ability to take \ud advantage of globalization where global civil society reflects the complexity of world society, \ud where civil society collectively through the ability to influence international outlook. WALHI \ud is included in the global civil society because there are struggles within the community who \ud are aware of the environment and sensitive to global issues-based environment. Problems of \ud this globalizing environment is finally made WALHI as a growing organization in \ud accordance with the issues around it, and able to cooperate with other organizations such as \ud Greenpeace and was also a member FoEI (Friend of the Earth International)
