Over the last decade, numerous ethnic violence occurred in southern Thailand, in particular three provinces near Thailand-Malaysia border that consist of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat. This civil disturbance might threaten the sovereignty of the state and challenge the effectiveness and management of the government. It can also hinder the economic development in this area. Some of the problem are caused by misinterpretation of political history between the government and the people in this locality. At the same time, a deep sense of Muslim-Malay had been implanted in Thai-Muslim while Thai- Muslim ignores patriotism of Thai.
