Use of different machinery in watercourse maintenance

The diploma thesis is addressing a domain of of watercourse maintenance area in the Republic of Slovenia. In opposite to general perceptionare the majority of watercourses in Slovenia artificial and they, as well as natural watercourses, require adequate maintenance. In diploma thesis hypothesis is tested that due to various reasons, public service providers set as concessionaires cannot effectively and efficiently perform their tasks of watercourse maintenance.\ud In the introductory part the characteristics of Slovenia`s watercourses is presented, followed by the presentation of the legislation and other legal acts regulating the field of watercource maintenance. By researching these legal aspects I am establishing the ways how the field of watercourse maintenance is regulated, determining the procedures of watercourse maintenance in practice. I am also addressing the issue of environmental guidelines and other regulations determining environmental limitations in watercourse maintenance.\ud In the second part of the thesis tools and machinery used for watercourse maintenance is analyzed. Overview of the watercourse maintenance machinery, which is on the market is performed (handheld machinery, agricultural, constructional and special machinery). I try to define and compare the characteristics of this machinery, mostly the areas of operation, costs and productivity.\ud Further in the thesis the companies performing maintenance of watercourses in Slovenia – (concessionaries) are analysed. By using a questionnaire in two separate companies, I am identifying the machinery they are using for watercourse maintenance, the amount of work they perform, and the limitations they are facing I try to identify possible solutions and modifications.\ud The last part of the thesis contains a pilot example with the development of optimal maintenance model. I pay attention to efficiency, performance, suitable maintenance machinery and its engagement from the economic point of view
