Development of villages and European cohesion policy funding

The thesis focuses on finding options for funding development of villages in Slovenia within\ud European Cohesion Policy funds in financial period 2007-2013. Rural areas in Slovenia have\ud been facing many challenges over the years since the focus has always mainly been on urban\ud development which caused great differences in development between urban and rural areas.\ud Many European countries share this history with Slovenia. European Union has over the past\ud decades became aware of this situation and is focusing on helping underdeveloped regions\ud with funding different activities regarding rural development. Slovenia, as part of European\ud Union, has also been able to use these funds. Most of the funding for rural development in\ud European Union in the 2007-2013 period is provided within Common Agricultural Policy\ud though European Cohesion Policy funds are also available for certain projects. The main\ud focus of the diploma thesis is on finding ways to finance rural development activities within\ud European Cohesion Policy as added funds to funding that is already provided by Common\ud Agricultural Policy. For that purpose several different documents have been analyzed.\ud Conclusions and suggestions are presented at the end of the thesis
