The study evaluated the self-perception of oral health in institutionalized and non-institutionalized elderly in the city of Araraquara -SP. The selected participants were 40 residents at a long stay institution (LSI) and 40 regulars from a group of seniors (SESI), aged between 60 and 95 years, of both genders. Participants were asked about their socio- demographic conditions, they performed a cognitive assessment test based on the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) and subsequently were evaluated for the self-perception of oral health with GOHAI (Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index).
