For the applications of high Reynolds number flows, the vortex method presents the advantage of being free from numerically dissipative truncation error. In practice, however, many vortex methods introduce some numerical dissipation in mesh-based spatial adaption stages, or schemes such as vortex particle splitting. The need for spatial adaption in vortex methods arises from the Lagrangian framework, which results in an increase of discretization error over time. Presently, a vortex method is devised that incorporates radial basis function (RBF) interpolation to provide spatial adaption in a fully mesh-less formulation.
