HUBUNGAN ANTARA MENSTRUASI DENGAN ANGKA KEJADIAN AKNE VULGARIS PADA REMAJA

Background: Acne vulgaris is a skin disease which has always been a problem for adolescents and young adults. Women usually develop acne at their premenarcheal ages; earlier than men do. The peak incidence in women is found at the age of 14 – 17 years. Increased hormone prior to menstruation can affect the exacerbation and worsen the acne vulgaris. This study aims to analyze the association between menstruation with the incidence of acne vulgaris in adolescents. Methods: This cross-sectional study recruited 60 female high school students in Semarang who fulfilled the inclusion criteria (listed as a high school student in Semarang, aged between 14-18 years, suffering from acne vulgaris.
