ANALISIS PENGARUH TINGKAT HARGA, TINGKAT BUNGA NOMINAL DAN TINGKAT BUNGA MIL TERHADAP NILAI TUKAR RUPIAH DI INDONESIA (Studi terhadap kurs Rp/USD dan kurs Rp/JPY periode September 1997-Desember 2000)

ABSTRACT Indonesian system for value exchange of currencies had become progressively more flexible with widening range of interventions that it was finally abolished in August 1997. The progressive process of widening this range of interventions, leading to its abolishment, had had quite strong influence on the value exchange of rupiah toward foreign currencies. This, in turn, had mad the value exchange of rupiah tended to fluctuate widely. Monetary authorities and investors should understand every factor influencing the value exchange of rupiah toward every foreign currency. This study took rupiah to USD and rupiah to JPY rates of exchange as the case for analyses since USD and JPY constituted the two foreign currencies greatly influencing Indonesian economy. This study used variables listed in the international parity conditions. The hypotheses 1 was the differences in price rate influential to the rates of exchange of rupiah to foreign currencies. The hypotheses 2 was the differences in nominal interest rates influential to the rate of exchange of rupiah to foreign currencies. The hypotheses 3 was the differences in real interest rates influential to the rate of exchange of rupiah to foreign currencies. The hypotheses 4 was the all variables simultaneously influential to the rate of exchange of rupiah to foreign currencies The effect of these variables on the value exchange of rupiah toward each of the two currencies were analyzed by multiple regression. The result of the regression process showed that the proposed hypotheses I through 4 were all significant, meaning that the différences in price rates, nominal interest rates dan real interest rates were, both partially and simultaneously, influential to the rate of exchange of rupiah both to USD and to JPY ABSTRAKSI Sistem nilai tukar Indonesia telah bergerak semakin fleksibel dengan kisaran intervensi yang semakin diperlebar hingga alchirnya dihapus pada bulan Agustus 1997. Proses pelebaran kisaran intervensi secara bertahap sampai dengan dihapuskannya kisaran tersebut berpengaruh terhadap perilaku nilai tukar rupiah terhadap valuta asing di mana kecenderungan yang terjadi adalah nilai tukar rupiah semakin berfluktuasi. Otoritas moneter dan investor perlu mengetahui faktor-faktor apa saja yang dapat berpengaruh terhadap pergerakan kurs rupiah per valas agar dapat mengetahui pergerakan nilai tukar rupiah yang terjadi. Penelitian ini mengambil kasus lairs rupiah/USD dan rupiah/JPY karena USD dan JPY merupakah mata uang yang besar pengaruhnya terhadap perekonomian Indonesia. Pada penelitian ini digunakan variabel-variabel yang terdapat dalam syarat paritas internasional sebagai faktor yang dianalisis pengaruhnya terhadap kurs Rupiah per valas. Hipotesis 1 menyatakan bahwa perbedaan tingkat harga berpengaruh terhadap kurs rupiah/valas Hipotesis 2 menyatakan bahwa perbedaan tingkat bunga nominal berpengaruh terhadap kurs rupiah/valas. Hipotesis 3 menyatakan bahwa tingkat bunga nil berpengaruh terhadap kurs rupiah/valas Hipotesis 4 menyatakan bahwa semua variabel secara simultan berpengaruh terhadap kurs rupiah/valas Alat analisis yang digunakan dalan penelitian ini adalah regresi berganda. Hasil pengamatan terhadap model regresi yang diperoleh menimjulckan bahwa hipotesis 1 hingga hipotesis 4 yang diajukan signifikan yang berarti bahwa variabel perbedaan tingkat harga, tingkat bimga nominal dan tingkat bunga rfil baik secara parsial maupun simultan berpengaruh terhadap nilai tukar Rupiah baik untuk kasus kurs Rp/USD maupun pada kasus kurs Rp/JPY
