One of the public health indicators is Infant Mortality Rate (IMR). Based on estimation in Indonesia, 4.608.000 babies are born every year and 100.454 babies are dead during neonatal period. In Central Java Province, IMR was 14.23 per 1.000 life births. IMR due to asphyxia in District of Demak increased from year 2006 to 2007. In year 2006, asphyxia cases were equal to 10.6% and the cases increased in year 2007 namely 14.2%. Main causes of infant mortality are complication during pregnancy and child-birth namely asphyxia, sepsis, and birth with low-weight.
