One of the health development parameters is maternal mortality rate. Maternal mortality rate in Demak District from year 2005 to 2007 grew up from 57.4 per 100.000 life-births in 2005, 75 per 100.000 per 100.000 life-births in 2006 to 85 per 100.000 life-births in 2007. This condition was accounted for the factor of lateness in referrring delivery women to a hospital performed by either a family or a midwife. Aim of this research was to find out the pattern of decision making by family and midwife to refer delivery women in the case of maternal mortality in Demak District year 2007.
