Analysis of influence perception of nursing management factors to nurses satisfaction level at inpatient ward in RSUD Kota Semarang in 2009

Nursing management is defined as the activity of directing serving nurses by nursing managers. Nurses work satisfaction needs hospital managements serious attention because nurses are amongst the biggest part of the hospital employee, who serve the patients directly. Working satisfaction would improve working performance. The increase of nurses workload, caused by increased BOR, the low performance of nursing care (62.04%) and the complaints from the nurses to the management were the background of this study. This study aimed to investigate the influence of nursing management to the nurses satisfaction level at inpatient ward in RSUD Kota Semarang. The results of this study showed that the most of the nurses had perception of bad leadership (56.8%), bad incentive (59.6%), bad promotion (70.3%), bad supervision (56.8%), bad satisfaction (51.4%), but good environment work condition (62.2%). Bivariate analysis showed that there were significant correlations between: leadership, incentives, promotion, supervision and the work satisfaction. Multivariate analysis shows that there were significant predictors of nurses work satisfaction: leadership (Exp β: 12,358), incentives (Exp β: 16,005) and supervision (10,099).
