Stimuli-sensitive microgels are soft, spherical nanoparticles composed of thermosensitive polymers, such as poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and their copolymer derivatives. PNIPAM microgels are conveniently prepared by aqueous precipitation polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM).
