The metacognition process is the self-awareness and self-regulation of thinking during solving problems activity. It is based on a strong understanding to the problem being addressed. This is important in order to make the activity run smoothly. This research is a qualitative research which is aimed to investigate the metacognition process of teachers college students for solving formal and contextual mathematical problems. The data collection was conducted through problem solving activities such as written tasks, thinking aloud, and interviews.
