The long-term goal of this project is to design and evaluate the components that will comprise a next generation mesoscale atmospheric model within the Coupled Ocean/Atmosphere Mesoscale Prediction System (COAMPS®1). It is anticipated that in order to meet future Navy requirements, next generation approaches to numerical techniques and physical parameterizations will be needed. OBJECTIVES The objectives of this project involve the development, testing, and validation of new numerical tech-niques such as spectral element techniques and monotonic advection methods.
