Interest in the early development of teachers has increased recently as the education profession wres-tles with issues related to accreditation of teacher education programs, certification of beginning teach-ers, expanded or extended teacher preparation, and inservice education for new teachers. Studies of the induction process, from university settings into begin-ning teachers ’ classrooms, have appeared frequently in the literature over the past three to four years.
