Singapore's Ministry of Environment has outlined six strategic trusts to achieve its vision of developing Singapore into a model green city. Two of the six would require the active involvement of Singaporeans. (a) To educate the people to be environmentally conscious. The Ministry hopes to reach out to schools, corporations and the media to promote environmentalism and green consumerism. (b) To conserve resources. The Ministry hopes to promote an environmentally friendly life style which includes waste minimization (reduction, reuse, recovery and recycle) and energy conservation.
