A study has been made of the anodic electropolishing of silver in a standard cyanide plating bath. The current flowing in such a polishing cell, under certain circumstances, shows repeating fluctuations. The frequency of this cyclic effect is due to the anodic portion of the cell, and is markedly dependent on the stability of the d-c source used. Best polishing is obtained at the highest frequencies. The data have been obtained through the use of a Brush oscillograph, which has been found ideally suited to the rela-tively low frequency transient phenomena found in electrode reactions
