One of these promising processes is industrial mineral carbonation whereby alkaline industrial wastes are taken as raw material. The process is a multi-step process which involves the extraction of calcium from industrial alkaline wastes and the subsequent reaction of extracted calcium rich supernatant with CO2 at elevated pH to form stable carbonates.
