The behavior of gases in metals is becoming increas-ingly important. Although this subject has received extensive attention for solid metals at pressures up to 1 atm, less emphasis has been placed on l iquid metals at pressures above 1 atm. The purpose of this work is to obtain data on the dissolution and behavior of oxygen in l iquid silver at higher pressures. The system was chosen owing to the high solubility of oxygen in the l iquid metal. Obser-vations were made on the depression of the freezing point of silver as the oxygen pressure over the silver was increased.
