Professor Sachindra Nath Oasgupta was not only an eminent scientist but also a devoted teacher and an able administrator with towering personality. I recall with reverence and gratitude the only one occasion when I met him in Calcutta and I was greatly overwhelmed by his kindness, simplicity and intellect.
