The important reasons for this have been the poor qitahity of the residual cake after oil extraction ant! also, in cottonseed!, the jresence of the toxin, gossypol. Im-proeh technical methods have now made it Possible to obtain edible cottonseed! flour of adequate nuttritional quality which is fit for human umse. Preparations processed at the Regional Research Laboratory, Hy-derabad!, have been used in the treatment of chiildren suffering from kwashiorkor in an attempt to evaluate the usefulness of this protein source in preventing protein deficieticy.
