Quantitative behavioral observation can add a great deal of depth to anthropologi-cal research. The development of laptops, handheld computers, and observational software has given researchers enhanced flexibility in sampling strategies and assis-tance in training and establishing reliability; it has also greatly reduced the amount of time required for data entry. With technological advances, more researchers should be able to incorporate quantitative behavioral analysis into their projects.
